Eventually, Roger's reply appeared, as if dragged out of him.

"Got too much on my plate."

That reply earned nothing but a sharp, bitter laugh from Alexia as her temper spiked.

"So that's it? Feeling bold today, are we? Maybe I should round up a dozen men and send them straight to your doorstep-maybe that would get your attention."

Her message clearly struck a nerve. He fired back at once.

"You think everyone's as worthless as you are? Look at yourself-a washed-up housewife, no job, nothing but parties and chasing after men! I told you, I'm busy Wait until I say you're next!"

"Loser," muttered Alexia, right as her phone began to ring.

She picked up, greeted by a whirlwind of excitement."At last! You finally dumped that loser Roger-praise the heavens! Hurry up and come back. Everyone's waiting for you."

The voice belonged to Ada Douglas, Alexia's best friend since they were kids.

Ada's words made Alexia curious. "Everyone's waiting for me?"

Ada replied, "Absolutely! Afoross University's been hounding me. They want you to join the bio department. Remember how desperate they were to keep you when you graduated? Then you vanished into that whole housewife
